Festive Gingerbread


What better way to celebrate the run-up to Christmas than sweet, fragrant gingerbread men! 


Check out our golden recipe below. 




  • 125g of unsalted butter
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 4tsp golden syrup
  • 300g plain flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 salt
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp all spice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves




Beat together unsalted butter, sugar and golden syrup until smooth. Then add the eggs and vanilla and beat until creamy and smooth. 

For the dry ingredients, add the flour, baking soda and salt and spices. Then gently sieve the dry ingredients into the wet  mixture and combine slowly until it becomes a thick dough.

Place the dough in the fridge for around 24 hours t set.

In the meantime, gather your ginger bread man cutters. Remove the dough from the fridge, flour a kitchen surface and begin to roll out the dough around 1/4 inch thick.  Use the cutters to shape the ginger bread men and transfer to a prepped baking sheet.

Make sure you space your gingerbread men around and inch apart and bake for around 10 minutes until golden brown.

Let these to cool on an oven rack when taken out of the oven and decorate your ginger breadmen your way!
